How does a diaphragm gauge work?

The deflection of the diaphragm is the basis on which measurement is based. The diaphragm separates the pressure gauge mechanism from the measured medium. That is why this type of manometers is often used for pressure measuring in viscous, corrosive, or polluted gasses or fluids. When pressure in the medium increases, the diaphragm will bend. That movement is transferred through a mechanism of gears and clutches, ending up rotating the indicator needle in the display. A diaphragm pressure gauge can measure overpressure up to 40 bars, and underpressure up to -1 bar in gasses, fumes, and fluids.
