What is stainless steel

Stainless steel is an alloy of carbon and iron (steel), wo which a minimum of 10.5% of chromium is added. Chromium protects the steel against corrosion in a very effective way. The higher the percentage of chrome, the better corrosion resistance. The chromium component appears as an oxygen proof layer on the surface of the steel, preventing it from rusting. In some cases, extra element might have been added to the alloy to increase corrosion protection even more, such as manganese, nickel, or niobium.

Stainless steel pressure gauges are especially fit for environments in which corrosion can occur. Fully stainless steel pressure gauges are water resistant and do not suffer from any weather conditions. They are protected from rusting.

As we have mentioned, we have a wide range of stainless steel gauges. Most of them work with bourdon tubes, but of course we also have membrane or diaphragm pressure gauges. These last ones are applied in circumstances where the medium has aggressive or corrosive properties, but also in case of viscous or toxic media. The membrane separates the medium from the mechanism of the pressure gauge so it cannot be damaged. Also, the medium cannot be contaminated because of this separation.
